Leila and Sahand are happy together, have a small son and are ready for a fresh start in life. But there is one big problem. They are both still married to other people, and this has such serious consequences for their safety in their home country of Iran that they have to flee. Eva Mulvad's 'Love Child' follows the family on the run to Turkey, and over the next six years, as they try to squeeze through the asylum process and be recognised as a family. Mulvad's camera does not depart from Leila and Sahand, neither in the first infatuated moments, nor in the painful processes that they have to go through to be able to live in safety as the small family they already are.
