In 1913, the famous dancer Isadora Duncan's two children drowned in the Seine, just 6 years old. Duncan, who never recovered from the loss, created her own gripping farewell with the dance 'Mother', which four women perform in each their own way 100 years later in Damien Manivel's grippingly beautiful film. Manivel, who himself has a past as a dancer, combines categories such as fiction and documentary, and shows us in three intertwined episodes, how powerful emotions can be expressed through art. 'Isadora's Children', which won the best director prize in Locarno, is full of the intelligent tenderness and attention that has become the young director's trademark.
